Born in France, Bétina Marcolin began her dancing training with teachers from the Paris Opera while following the syllabus of The Royal Academy of Dancing with Yvonne Cartier. She was awarded the Solo Seal in London by Dame Margot Fonteyn. Following studies in Copenhagen with Latvian born Edite Pfeiffer Frandsen and Toni Lander Marks, Bétina joined The Royal Swedish Ballet in 1985, where she was promoted to the rank of soloist, and danced in leading roles from the company’s large repertoire from late 1700 to modern times.
Her interest in different dance styles led her to study Renaissance and Baroque dance, after which she initiated the revival of Baroque Dance in Sweden. With the title ‘Ballet Master’ of Confidencen, Bétina has taken part in many productions as a dancer as well as a choreographer, including ‘Divertimenti di Confidenza’ by Gunilla Roempke with a role specially written for her, many concerts, Festival O’Modernt, performances for school children, and operas including Gluck’s ‘Orfeus’ and ‘The Magic Flute’ and ‘Figaro’ by Mozart.
