The young and extravagant Alon Sariel (27) is one of the multifaceted young talents emerging from Israel, managing a double career as instrumentalist and conductor. He was trained first at the Beer Sheva Conservatory and the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance, and later at the Brussels Royal Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien in Hannover, where he graduated with distinction on both lute and mandolin.

The winner of numerous awards (Bloch Competition, Ben Haim Competition, Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition and Aviv Competition to name but a few) has appeared with ensembles such as NDR-Radiophilharmonie, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra and Trondheim Soloists. He has toured throughout Europe, the U.S.A, the Middle and Far East, and appeared at Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival, Festival de Musique de Menton, Les Musicalles de Bagatelle, Göttinger Händel Festspiele, Royal Albert Hall, La Scala, Vienna Musikverein, Hamburg Leiszhalle and Kölner Philharmonie.

Alon Sariel has lectured and conducted master classes in Israel, Europe, the UK and the USA, most notably at Trinity College of Music (London) and Cambridge Performance Master Classes. His playing was broadcasted by Arte, BBC4 , ”Kol Hamusika”, WQXR, WNYC, and can be heard on Naxos Online.

While being a devoted performer of contemporary music (has till today premiered over 20 works dedicated for him), Sariel also regularly returns to direct the Israeli Early Music Project which he founded in 2006. During his studies in Hannover, he has founded the Hannover International Ensemble and was Musical Director at the Camerata Medica and the Youth Symphony of Göttingen. Since 2007, Alon Sariel is a member of the West Eastern Divan Orchestra (Daniel Barenboim).
