Henrik Måwe, born in Sweden 1981, is considered one of the most prominent Swedish pianists of his generation. He has studied with Prof. Hui-Ying Liu-Tawaststjerna at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and with Prof. Staffan Scheja at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
He has performed in most of the European countries and in South Africa and the USA. During Spring 2008 he made his debut recital in Stockholm as well as a performance as a soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Stockholm. Henrik is also seen and heard frequently on TV, radio and other media.
As a soloist Henrik has performed with a number of Swedish orchestras, for example the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Stockholm, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Västerås Sinfonietta and others, collaborating with conductors such as B Tommy Andersson, Hannu Koivula, and Mats Rondin to mention a few.
He has also given recitals at venues such as the Savigny le Temple and Moulin d´Andé festivals in France, the Gotland Chamber Music Festival and Mälar Music in Sweden, as well as some of the most important recital halls in Sweden.
Being a passionate chamber musician, he has collaborated with some of the most established instrumentalists and singers of Sweden, for example the world famous baritone Håkan Hagegård and many others.
Henrik has also branched out to the field of jazz and improvisation, and has worked with the famous bass player and composer Georg Riedel. Henrik has also devoted whole recitals to improvisation, including getting themes from the audience to improvise on.
Since 2008 Henrik figures as chamber music coach at the “Lilla Akademien” in Stockholm. There he also works as the assistant of Prof. Staffan Scheja.
In 2008 Henrik was awarded the largest and most important scholarship for young musicians in Sweden, the “Rosenborg-Gehrmans” scholarship. Other scholarships received over the years include the Royal Academy of Music, Nordea Bank, and all of the important scholarships for young musicians in Sweden.
Prizes won in competitions include 3rd prize at the FLAME International Piano Competition in Paris, 4th prize at the Val Tidone Competition in Italy, 2nd prize at the Blüthner Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö, as well as prizes in numerous other Swedish competitions.
