Jordi Carrasco Hjelm is in his last year at the specialist music school Lilla Akademien, where he is studying the double bass, conducting and composition. Jordi is a versatile classical musician who is inspired by jazz, folk and pop music. He performs regularly as a chamber musician in different constellations and plays in the Swedish National Youth Orchestra and the Baltic Youth Philharmonic, being the youngest orchestra member selected for the latter. Together with the celebrated folk music ensemble Garizim he has toured all over the country and won several awards, one of them being the first price in one of Swedenʼs music prestigious music competitions ‘Musik Direkt 2009’. His devotion to music and his natural flair in performance has brought him to countries such as the USA, China, Russia, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Estonia, Norway and Denmark. This Year he was awarded with the ‘Per Welin’ Scholarship by the Swedish Royal Academy of Music.
