Tony Bauer was born in Västerås , Sweden, in 1967. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Zahari Tchavdarov. In 1986 he won the first prize in the Nordic viola competition in Lund. He received scholarships from Johannislogen and the Music Academy in Stockholm, enabling him to further his studies with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Tony Bauer has played in the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he still works. As a chamber musician he has played in the Uppsala Chamber Soloists and was co-founder of the New Stenhammar Quartet, which continues to receive much critical acclaim in Sweden.
