Johan Bridger received his education from Malmö Academy of Music and from Northwestern University in Chicago. In 2004 Johan was awarded 1st prize in the Swedish Soloist Prize and the Belgium International Marimba Duo Competition. The same year Johan made is debut with the Malmö Symphony, at the Wigmore Hall and at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in USA. Since then Johan has performed with Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, Norrlands Operan and the Huaröd Chamber Orchestra. As soloist he has performed all over Europe at festivals including La Biennale di Venezia.
He has recorded for Caprice Records and also made several recordings for both the Swedish Radio and the Swedish Television. Composers such as Daniel Börtz, Staffan Storm, and Tobias Broström have written music especially for him. Since 2005 he teaches marimba at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, Denmark.
This year Johan performed the double concerto “Samsara” by Tobias Broström together with violinist Hugo Ticciati and Sweden National Youth Orchestra on a tour of the USA, the tour including performances at Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall and The Music Center at Strathmore, Washington.
