Bengt Rosengren was educated at the Academy of Music in Stockholm and has been solo oboist of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra since 1983. He has been a soloist with the orchestra several times, for example in Richard Strauss’ Oboe Concerto with Esa-Pekka Salonen at the annual music festival in the Canary Islands.
As a member of the Stockholm Chamber Orchestra (SNYKO), Bengt has performed as a soloist both in Sweden and abroad, among others at the Penderecki and Lutoslawski festivals in the concert hall and in a Scandinavian music festival in New York.
Bengt Rosengren is a sought-after chamber musician and has made many recordings for Swedish Radio. His recordings include among others a CD of contemporary Nordic oboe concertos with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Ole Kristian Ruud and Esa-Pekka Salonen and recordings of chamber music for oboe and piano with pianist Kerstin Nylander; among others, the music of Robert Schumann and music by French composers, entitled Conversations. He is also a member of the Amadé Quintet, a wind quintet that has made a number of recordings and tours since its inception in 2000. Since 2001, Bengt Rosengren has taught oboe and orchestral playing to postgraduates at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
