Gudrun Dahlkvist studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and is currently earning a Master’s degree at Edsbergs Castle/Royal College of Music. Born in 1991, she studied for many years with Nina Balabina at Lilla Akademien. During her last year there, she played Szymanowski’s First Violin Concerto with the Stockholm Symphony Orchestra. In 2013 she received a scholarship for further music studies in Switzerland. In 2007-2008 she received a full scholarship for participating in Music á Flaine, France, with the Quatuor Ysaÿe. Since 2008 Gudrun Dahlkvist has toured with chamber music groups and orchestras in Sweden, Italy, Denmark, the USA and China. She has performed with musicians like Göran Fröst, Hugo Ticciati, Per Nyström and Martin Fröst. In 2010 she was invited to Japan. She is second principal violin of the Swedish National Youth Orchestra, performing at the Baltic Sea Festival with Esa-Pekka Salonen and Tonu Kaljuste, and at Carnegie Hall and Chicago Symphony Hall.
