Lars Arvidson the Swedish bass-baritone received his vocal and theatrical training at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at the University college of Opera in Stockholm. His sonorous bass-baritone voice and versatile stage presence has been seen and heard in a great variety of roles ranging from the early baroque to contemporary opera. Among roles performed counts Figaro and Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Don Alfonso (Cosí fan tutte), Colline(La Bohème), Ottone (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Wotan (Das Rheingold), Raimondo(Lucia di Lammermoor), Leone (Tamerlano), Heinrich/Inquisitor (Die Feurige Engel), Zopire/La Vengeance (Zoroastre). Lars Arvidson is a frequent guest artist at all of Sweden’s opera house, most notably the Stockholm Royal Opera, Drottningholm Court Theater, Norrlandsoperan and Malmö Opera. He has also been engaged by Het Musikteater and Holland Festival. Furthermore, he was making his debut at Paris’ Opéra Comique in March 2009 in Pierre Audi’s production of Rameau’s Zoroastre. Other noteworthy recent engagements include Bounafede (Il Mondo della Luna), Delirio (Gassman’s L’opera seria), Seneca(L’incoronatione di Poppea) at Drottningholm Court Theatre and Ariodate in Xerxes at the Royal Swedish Opera. Lars Arvidson is an accomplished and experienced concert and oratorio singer and has been a soloist with conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Alan Gilbert, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Manfred Honeck, Christophe Hogwood, Christophe Rousset, Andrew Manze and Tönu Kaljuste. Engagements include Meraspe in Handel´s Admeto in Leipzig, Leone in Tamerlano at Handelfest in Göttingen and Leporello in Don Giovanni at Drottningholm Court Theatre. The season 2010/2011 Lars Arvidson returned to Leipzig as Meraspe and to Drottningholm Court Theatre as Leporello.
Autumn 2011 Lars Arvidson sang the Doctorin Wozzek at Norrlandsoperan, and in the spring of 2012 he took on the role of Klingsorin Parsifal at Malmö Opera.
Seasons 2013-14 included Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Royal Swedish Opera, Wurm i Luisa Miller and the Duke of Gloucester in Reimann’s Lear at the Malmö Opera as well as Pluto in Proserpin at Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Dulcamara in Elskovsdrikken av Donizetti in opera Oskarsborg, Herr Rabe and Renen i Schneekönigin at Norrlandsoperan followed by Anden in Tusen och en natt at Malmö opera. At Folkoperan in Stockholm Lars sang St Matthew passion in a staged version directed by Joshua Sofaer. In the summer 2014 he sang the leading role in Falstaff at Läckö slottsopera with great acclaim.Recent engagements in 2014 was Le Gouverneur in Le Comte Ory at Malmö opera.In 2015 he will sing Bartolo in Die hochzeit des Figaro at Norrlandsoperan and Forsell in The Silverbird at Vattnäs konsertlada.
